- Hospital Chaplains
If you enjoy visitation, you might consider joining some of our UMCSO members as a hospital chaplain at the New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill, N.Y.
- Cancer Society Drivers
Members of our church serve as volunteer drivers for the American Cancer Society, driving cancer patients for treatment. Many cancer patients today undergo a regimen of extended radiation or chemotherapy from home, requiring frequent trips to treatment centers. They often don’t have family members or others able to drive them, and especially in Putnam County there is little in the way of public transportation for them to use. Volunteer drivers pick these patients up at their homes and transport them to and from their treatment. This program is coordinated by the American Cancer Society, who normally schedule drivers for one trip a week.
