At UMCSO, we recognize the importance of helping one another in our spiritual growth. In an effort to promote this growth, many members and constituents participate in groups for just this purpose. Through sharing and listening to each other, we hope to support one another in our spiritual journey. Some are new and others are part of groups that meet at individuals’ homes and have been meeting for many years. The following are some of the groups:
Men’s Group – Our group for men meets on the first & third Saturday of the month to gather for breakfast fellowship and discussion. All men are welcome to join us. Contact Russ Reynolds.
Prayer Group – On Thursday mornings from 11-11:30 am, we meet in the Chapel to praise God and lift prayers for ourselves, community and the world. You can submit a prayer request on our website or Contact us for more information.
Small Groups – We have established several small groups for the purpose of growing as a disciple of Christ. During our time together, we discuss God’s work in our lives and encourage one other in our faith journey. We also reflect upon how God is calling us to grow in spiritual maturity. All are welcome and one does not need to be a member to join a group at any time. Contact us for more information.
Women’s Group – Our group of women meet Monday evenings, 6:30pm to gather for fellowship and spiritual nurture. During our time together, we share about where we have seen God working in our lives and strive to grow as disciples of Christ. All women are welcome to join us. Contact us for more information.
Crafts for a Cause – Every Friday morning from 10:00 to noon, you’ll find a group of people knitting and crocheting and having a nice visit together. These ladies make many items including prayer shawls, baby blankets and hats, stuffed toys and children’s clothing. All of these items are donated to people in need. If you have an interest in this type of craft, please join the group any Friday morning. If you have more questions, please see Maxine Haigh.
PWP – “People Without Partners” – Ministry for and with those who are without partners. Group meets at church for activities and plans group outings at various events. Contact Maxine Haigh.
